In Kathmandu, Nepal, there is an electric atmosphere surrounding the eSports community as the country's best PUBG Mobile squads get ready for the renowned PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2023. Following impressive performances at the PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL) South Asia Championship Fall 2023, five Nepali teams have made it to the finals, creating anticipation for a gripping showdown on their way to PMGC.
These Nepali teams competing in this high-stakes event are Raw E-Sports, T2K E-Sports, Leo E-Sports, DRS Gaming, and Skylight Gaming. Their achievements in the league have been nothing short of extraordinary. DRS Gaming is currently at the top of the scoreboard with 164 points, obtaining five "chicken dinners" and 93 elimination points within just 16 matches. Right behind them is Raw E-Sports in second place with 151 points and three "chicken dinners".
Although DRS Gaming and Raw E-Sports are the top performers for now, other Nepali teams aren't far behind. T2K E-Sports is ranking fifth overall while Leo E-Sports stands seventh, and Skylight Gaming holds the 13th position.
Interestingly, Mongolia's squads—which have traditionally ruled over the South Asian region—stumbled during the league phase. This paved the way for Nepali teams to thrive and achieve strong placements in the finals scheduled between August 31 and September 3.
Stalwart E-Sports and Aegon8 have already qualified for PMGC 2023. However, if these teams manage to finish among the top four positions as well, it would create opportunities for additional teams to qualify for the global championship. Ultimately, there may be a chance for six teams from this tournament to proceed toward PMGC 2023.
As anticipation builds for these finals, all eyes are on Nepal's PUBG Mobile teams, watching to see if they can maintain their stellar performances throughout. Should they succeed, the PMGC 2023 could very well witness Nepali teams competing, a landmark achievement for the nation's eSports scene.
