In a positive development in the hostage situation by Hamas militants, two elderly women, Nurit Cooper and Yocheved Lifshitz, have been released. It is known that the International Committee of the Red Cross facilitated the transfer of hostages. This is a step forward in securing the release of around 200 hostages of different nationalities, including Nepali Bipin Joshi. This brings the total number of hostages released by Hamas militants to four. Previously, the American-Israelis mother-daughter duo of Judith Raanan and Natalie Raanan were released from captivity last Friday.
The daughter of Yocheved Lifshitz mentions that her father is still in captivity and she is focused on securing the release of her father and other hostages. It is also a positive hope of sign for Mr. Joshi, who was among the 17 Nepalese attacked by Hamas militants. Ten of the Nepalese died, two escaped, four sustained injuries and Mr. Joshi was abducted.
The Nepalese government should coordinate with the international authorities and ask for the help of its strong allies in trying to secure the release of Mr. Joshi and other hostages.
