Nepal's tourism industry has achieved a noteworthy benchmark with the arrival of over 100,000 international visitors within a single month. The Nepal Tourism Board has reported that in the span of the last four months, the nation has welcomed 416,069 tourists, with a monthly average surpassing 100,000.
An analysis of the monthly data reveals a steadily increasing trend: January saw 79,100 visitors, February had 97,426, March welcomed 128,167, and April saw 111,376 tourists entering Nepal.
A significant chunk of these tourists originated from India with 110,573 Indian nationals visiting within the reviewed period. China and the United States were also at the forefront with 38,290 and 36,846 visitors respectively.
Moreover, substantial tourist traffic was seen from various other nations including but not limited to the UK, Australia, Bangladesh, France, Germany, Russia, and Malaysia.
Turning to specifics of April 2024 alone, tourism in Nepal experienced a robust growth of 12.75 percent over the same month in the previous year. The leap from April 2023's figure of 98,773 foreign visitors is marked; even more so when compared against April 2022's count of 61,589 and April 2021's mere 22,732.Β
This Aprilβs top visiting nationality was from India totaling 30,158 travelers. It was closely followed by arrivals from other leading contributors such as the USA with 9,947 visitors, China with 9,750, and descending numbers from the UK at 5,391 tourists down to Malaysia at a count of 2,310.
This surge mirrors a broader upswing in Nepalβs appeal as a travel destination for individuals around the globe.
