The installation of a mammoth bell of 5,555kg, known as ‘Muktinath Maha Ghanta’, has been celebrated to make the Panchakot of Sarbasiddadham, Baglung district, more prominent as a religious tourist destination.

This superb bell was brought to Panchakot last week, thereby completing the splendid collection of spiritual structures in this area that consists of the Sish Mahal, the Gandaki Mata Temple, Yagyashala and the marble Mahamaya Hanuman.

This spiritual landmark project in Panchakot was launched in 2072 BS. It was backed by the generosity of many donors, local authorities' support, and funds collected during a gala Mahayagya.

Muktinath Pithadhishwor Kamalanayanacharya has articulated a vision to shape Panchakot—a picturesque locale perched at 1,750 meters above sea level—into a distinguished pilgrimage destination through this bell's installation.

Crafted from an eclectic mix of metals ranging from gold and silver to copper, brass, and iron, this monumental bell is set to be unveiled on February 21st—timed with a special yagya ceremony scheduled for commencement on that very day.

The bell’s creation spanned eight years and absorbed about 20 million rupees in costs. Kamalanayanacharya confidently asserts that its resonant toll will be heard across vast distances including Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi districts and many villages throughout Mustang.

Soon to be positioned adjacent to a yet-to-be-finished 108-feet Kalash (pitcher), this bell stands on a foundation stone placed by former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala around eight years ago marking the beginning of construction for Panchakot's religious sites.

With over 500 million rupees already invested by the Sarbasiddidham Panchakot Development Council in transforming Panchakot into a hub of religious tourism, council chairperson Damodar Shastri Dahal predicts even greater visitor engagement. The council has its sights set on developing additional infrastructures to further safeguard religious heritage while enhancing tourist draw.

Given its potential coupled with attractions like the Muktinath Maha Ghanta, Panchakot anticipates a significant uptick in its daily visitor count which presently ranges from 300 to 400.
