Hong Kong has announced that they will be changing some of their visa policies starting on October 25, 2023. The goal is to make it easier for talented people from Vietnam, Laos, and Nepal to come work, study, or invest in Hong Kong.
In a recent speech, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee told lawmakers that requirements will be relaxed for Vietnamese citizens looking for jobs or applying for multi-entry business and tourist visas. Rules will also be loosened for people from Laos and Nepal who want to work, train, or attend universities in Hong Kong.
One new program Lee talked about is aimed at investors. Under this capital investment entrant scheme, people who put HK$30 million or more into Hong Kong assets like stocks, funds, or bonds will be able to apply for residency. The hope is that policies like this will attract more foreign capital into Hong Kong's financial markets and economy.
