A mother and daughter from the United States, who were held hostage by Hamas have been released today. This news brings hope for the approximately 200 other hostages, including Nepalese citizen Bipin Joshi. Mr. Joshi is one of the 17 Nepalese impacted by the Hamas attack, with 10 killed, four injured, two escaped, and Joshi believed to have been taken hostage.
Released hostages Judith Tai Raanan and her daughter Natalie Shoshana Raanan were greeted by officials at the Gaza border tonight, according to a statement from a spokesperson for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The mother and daughter are now en route to a meeting point at a military base in the country's center, where their family awaits them.
The mother-daughter duo were captured when Hamas militants attacked their kibbutz, Nahal Oz, on October 7th. They were visiting Israel to visit family. They are now safe and receiving necessary medical treatment after being detained against their will for nearly two weeks.
It is a ray of hope for all the nations whose citizens are among those held hostages. This is true in the case of Nepal too. The concerned government authorities should coordinate and execute all the possible steps through any diplomatic links, a hand of help from its more able country partners to secure the release of Mr. Joshi, and help in any way possible for the release of other hostages.
