Following the recent developments of the World Bank and other major financial institutions' decision to invest one billion US dollars in the Upper Arun Hydroelectric Project (UAHEP), a Nepali delegation engaged in discussions with the World Bank concerning the upcoming Country Partnership Framework and related financing. Led by Finance Secretary Krishna Hari Pushkar, the delegation emphasized the World Bank's dedication to increasing renewable energy sources and sustainable electricity supplies, as well as promoting regional electricity trade.
Between October 19th and 20th, the Nepali delegation, under the guidance of Finance Secretary Krishna Hari Pushkar, participated in a series of meetings at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington D.C. The talks primarily revolved around reviewing current World Bank-funded projects in Nepal and financing for forthcoming projects such as the Upper Arun Hydroelectric Project. Additionally, delegates discussed the imminent country partnership framework and other related topics. Members of the delegation consisted of Energy Secretary Dinesh Ghimire, Ambassador Sridhar Khatri, and Ministry of Finance Joint Secretary Shree Krishna Nepal.
Ambassador Khatri highlighted the significance of regional cooperation to ensure mutual prosperity within South Asia during a meeting about the upcoming country partnership framework. Moreover, he stressed the need for increased investment in Nepal's IT sector.
