The inaugural conference for agricultural scientists from Nepal and around the world is slated to occur in Chitwan. Taking place from November 23-25, 2023, the First Graduate Conference will be coordinated for the first time by the Research and Extension Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry University.
Dr. Rishi Ram Kattel, the conference coordinator and Research Director, has mentioned that distinguished guests such as the Prime Minister, Minister of Forests, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Education, Chief Minister of Bagamati Province, Vice Chancellors from various universities, and others will be in attendance at the opening ceremony. Additionally, former Vice Chancellors, Registrar, and officials from the Agriculture University will grace the occasion.
Furthermore, Dr. Kattel has informed that representatives from diverse organizations like the Asian Development Bank, World Food Programme (WFP), Agricultural Research Council, University Grants Commission, various research institutions associated with agriculture and forestry sectors, as well as different donor agencies, are expected to participate in this conference. The primary goal of this gathering is to revolutionize agriculture via education and research initiatives.
During the conference, attendees will engage in group discussions covering an array of topics. Scholars, professors, and policymakers will present research-related papers on agriculture, forestry, livestock veterinary sciences, and fisheries studies along with their respective findings. Special papers addressing climate change and its scientific management will also be presented. Boasting an attendance list exceeding 300 participants with scientists hailing from countries like Japan, Taiwan, the Netherlands and India - Dr. Kattel envisions a dynamic event.
The conference will feature presentations by national and international scientists followed by group discussions that commence after the opening ceremony. Day two's agenda includes additional group discussions alongside technical presentations as well as deliberations. The final day culminates in both technical and thematic exchanges.
Coordinated by Dr. Kattel himself, students and professors from Agriculture and Forestry University, Tribhuvan University, and Purbanchal University will be present at the conference. There will also be researchers, students, and organizational representatives with an interest in agricultural research.
Dr. Kattel highlighted that this marks the first occasion of such a significant conference occurring in this region. This event is expected to facilitate substantial exchanges of new accomplishments and support further agricultural research developments.
