Known as one of Africa's finest footballers, Drogba has made big impressions playing with clubs like Chelsea and Galatasaray, as well as leading Ivory Coast's national team.
Before he hits the field in the NSL, Drogba's heart of gold is shining through – he's donating 2 million Nepali Rupees via his Didier Drogba Foundation in collaboration with the league. His generous gift will help earthquake victims and support ongoing relief efforts in Nepal after the heartbreaking 6.4-magnitude quake on November 3, 2023.
Drogba has always had a soft spot for humanitarian work and using his fame for good – donating to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund is just another example of his global impact.
The star-studded NSL attracts top Nepali footballers and international players alike, elevating Nepal's football scene. The next season, set to start on November 24, 2023, features nine franchise-based teams: Chitwan FC, Pokhara Thunders, Dhangadi FC, Lalitpur City FC, Butwal Lumbini FC, Kathmandu Rayzrs FC, Jhapa FC, Sporting Illam FC and Birgunj United FC. Sadly, first-edition participant Biratnagar City FC is sitting out this time around.
The excitement surrounding Didier Drogba's involvement guarantees that this NSL season will be the biggest so far. Thanks to his legendary reputation, global attention, and resources will be drawn to Nepal's football community!
