In an effort to boost safety and security, the Thamel Tourism Development Council (TTDC) has initiated the installation of 112 CCTV cameras in the renowned tourist hub of Thamel, Kathmandu.

Supported by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and the Kathmandu Valley Police Office Ranipokhari, this project aims to create a cleaner, more appealing, and well-organized environment. The strategic placement of cameras covers key areas like Lainchaur Marg, Chhetrapati Marg, Nursing Chowk Marg, Bhagwati Bahal Marg, Chaksibari Marg, Sath Ghumti Marg, JP Line Marg, and Tourism Marg.

A joint effort involving the Metropolis Police, Kathmandu Valley Police Office, and TTDC, this initiative follows a comprehensive study to address the security needs of the Thamel region. Sahadev Dhamala (Bimal), Vice President of TTDC, emphasizes the council's commitment to curbing criminal activities in Thamel and fostering the overall development of the community, which has comprised over 2,000 homeowners and business members since its establishment in 2047.
