The highly anticipated Hollywood movie 'Ice Road 2' featuring Liam Neeson is currently seeking applications from Nepali actors for various roles.
Star Now, the production company responsible for casting, has issued a call for two types of Nepali artists. The first requirement is for a male actor who has a similar skin tone and height as Liam Neeson - around 6.4 feet tall - and should be aged between 30 - 55 years old. The shooting schedule for this role is planned from January 16th to March 1st.
The second type of artists required are background actors, with no gender restrictions and ages ranging from 20 to 70 years old. These artists will be compensated with AUD 107.40 per day for five days of filming.
It has been revealed that the majority of the film's shooting will take place in Nepal and Australia, with the main storyline set along Nepal's Kodari Highway. Although some scenes may be shot in Nepal, it is expected that most of the filming will occur in Walhalla, Victoria, Australia on a set designed to resemble the Kodari Highway's geography.
According to international media reports, shooting in Nepal is slated for mid-January to mid-February. The 71-year-old actor Liam Neeson is starring in the leading role.
This opportunity may hold particular appeal for individuals residing in Victoria, Melbourne, Australia where roughly 21,000 people of Nepali origin currently live as per a 2021 census. Casting coordinator Karen Newman has confirmed that transportation will be arranged by the production for all selected artists.
In terms of plot, 'Ice Road 2' follows the story of the Kodari Highway connecting Nepal and Tibet China. Teaser posters released by the producers showcase Liam Neeson alongside Mount Everest imagery. The producers plan to utilize Walhalla as their primary shooting location due to its striking resemblance to Kodari's landscape.
As per a Variety magazine report, the storyline centers around Neeson's character visiting the Mount Everest region in Nepal to honor his late brother's final wish: the scattering of his ashes at the mountain's peak. As the group faces treacherous terrain and rockslides, Neeson must work tirelessly to ensure their safety.
