Khambachen East, also known by its peak ID KBNE, is a significant mountain peak located in the Kanchenjunga mountain range of Nepal. The peak stands at an elevation of 7784 meters or 25538 feet. The geographical coordinates for Khambachen East are approximately 27° 43'03" latitude and 88° 09'29" longitude.
The mountain is situated on the boundary of Province I and India, specifically on the boundary of Phaktanglung Gaupalika of Taplejung district and India. Khambachen East is the 8th highest peak in the Kanchenjunga mountain range of Nepal. It is 4.5km east of Khangbachen and 0.7km north of Kanchenjunga North. Furthermore, Khambachen East is 2.3km south of Gimigela Chuli.
The nearest help center from the base camp along the caravan route is a police post at Tapethok. The nearest army post is in Taplejung, the district headquarters. Healthcare facilities can be accessed at Siwa, and the nearest settlement is Khangpachen, which is right at the base of the mountain.
The Nepalese government has opened Khambachen East for climbing, with royalty fees set for both Nepalese and foreign climbers. For Nepalese climbers, the fees are NRs 8000 in spring, NRs 4000 in autumn, and NRs 2000 in winter/summer. For foreign climbers, the fees are USD 600 in spring, USD 300 in autumn, and USD 150 in winter/summer.
To reach Khambachen East, one can fly to Biratnagar or Bhadrapur from Kathmandu and then travel by vehicle to Taplejung. The caravan route to the peak goes through Taplejung-Ghunsa-Lhonak-Pangpema-BC. The total duration for the expedition is around 75 days.
