Gimigela Chuli

Gimigela Chuli, also known as The Twins or Gimmigela, is a breathtaking mountain peak nestled in Nepal. Towering at an impressive height of 7,350 meters (24,114 feet), this peak can be found at 27° 44' 26" latitude and 88° 09' 40" longitude. Currently, the mountain welcomes climbers and adventure seekers alike. It was first conquered on the 29th of October, 1994 by a team composed of Shigeru Yokokuwa, Dawa Wangchuk Sherpa, Pasang Gyalzen Sherpa, and Pasang Tenzing Sherpa.

Nestled in Nepal's Province 1 within the Kanchenjunga mountain range, Gimigela Chuli has nearby support centers en-route from the basecamp: Tapethok Police post (57.2KM), Taplejung Armed police post (81.8KM), and Taplejung Army post (81.8KM). For medical assistance, the closest health center is in Siwa (67.4KM), while the nearest village is Khangpachen (17.6KM).

Climbing enthusiasts should be aware of the royalty fees: Nepalese citizens pay NRs 6000 in Spring, NRs 3000 in Autumn and NRs 1500 in Winter/Summer; foreigners must pay USD 500 in Spring, USD 250 in Autumn, and USD 125 in Winter/Summer.

To embark on your journey to Gimigela Chuli, you can fly from Kathmandu to either Biratnagar or Bhadrapur then take a vehicle to Taplejung. The caravan route follows Taplejung-Ghunsa-Lonak-Pangpema-BC with a total distance of 81.8KM cutting through Taplejung. The climb itself is 6.7KM long, with the entire expedition taking approximately 40 days.
