Common Tiger

The Common Tiger Butterfly, scientifically known as Danaus genutia,  is part of the Danaidae family and is closely related to the iconic Monarch butterfly. Known for its striking appearance, it sports a vibrant orange base color with black vein-like lines cris-crossing its wingspan. Additionally, it has a series of white spots surrounding the edges of its wings that further intensify its majestic appeal.

Common Sailor Butterfly (Neptis hylas)

The Common Sailor Butterfly, scientifically known as Neptis hylas, is a species of nymphalid butterfly mainly found in South Asia, including Nepal. 

Habitat of Common Sailor Butterfly

It is found in a wide range of altitudes, from sea level to 1,000 meters. However, it is most common in lowland areas, and its numbers tend to decline with increasing altitude. In general, the common sailor butterfly prefers open, sunny habitats, such as forests, grasslands, and wetlands.

The Common Rose Butterfly, scientifically known as Pachliopta aristolochiae, is a captivating and striking species, belonging to the family Papilionidae that can be found in various regions across Asia. 

Habitat of The Common Rose Butterfly

The Common Rose Butterfly thrives in a range of habitats including forests, gardens, parks, and agricultural areas. They are primarily found across Southeast Asia, including countries such as India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Nepal.

Common Peacock

The Common Peacock Butterfly, scientifically known as Papilio bianor, also commonly known as The Chinese Peacock Butterfly is a  stunning butterfly that belongs to the family Papilionidae and is native to Asia. Known for their striking green iridescent coloration and distinctive eye spots on their wings, they resemble stained glass windows when they fly. Adult wingspan ranges from 90 to 130 mm, making them one of the larger butterflies in their native range.

Common Nawab

The Common Nawab Butterfly, scientifically known as Polyura athamas, is a member of the Nymphalidae family that includes several subspecies spread across Asia. Its wingspan ranges from 70 to 80mm, making it a medium-sized butterfly. Adult butterflies are characterized by their distinct black coloration with white spots on both sides of their wings. Additionally, they often have highly recognizable orange or reddish markings along the wings' edges.

Belonging to the family Papilionidae, the Common Mormon Butterfly is widely distributed across numerous South and Southeast Asian countries. These stunning butterflies often make their presence known in meadows, gardens, woodlands, and forest trails.

Habitat of The Common Mormon

Preferring warm and subtropical conditions, the Common Mormon Butterfly can be found at varying altitudes, from sea level up to 2,000 meters.

The Common Mime Butterfly belongs to the swallowtail family (Papilionidae) and is widely distributed throughout South Asia. This captivating species is well-known for its fascinating mimicry abilities – a skill that allows it to camouflage itself as a toxic species or even a completely different butterfly altogether.

Common Jezebel: A Kaleidoscope of Colors

The Common Jezebel Butterfly, also known as Delias Eucharis, is a medium-sized butterfly commonly found throughout south and southeast Asia, including Nepal. It thrives in a variety of environments such as tropical and temperate forests, open woodlands, forest edges, stream banks, meadows, and even urban areas with dense tree populations. These butterflies mainly feed on nectar from different flowers, especially those found on Loranthaceae plants.
