Khaptad National Park - Wildlife

Kaptad National Park is a protected area in the far-western region of Nepal. The park is known for its diverse wildlife, which includes several rare and endangered species. The park covers an area of 225 square kilometers and is home to a variety of animals, including:

Red Panda: A small, arboreal mammal that is found in the high-altitude forests of the Himalayas. They have a reddish-brown coat, white facial markings, and a long, bushy tail. Red pandas primarily feed on bamboo but also eat fruits, nuts, and small animals.

Barking Deer: A small deer species that is found throughout the Indian subcontinent. They have a reddish-brown coat and are named for their distinctive barking call. Barking deer are primarily nocturnal and feed on a variety of vegetation.

Clouded Leopard: A medium-sized wild cat that is found in the forests of Southeast Asia. They have a distinctive cloud-like pattern on their coat and are known for their climbing ability. Clouded leopards primarily feed on small mammals and birds.

Goral: A goat-like mammal that is found in the mountains of the Indian subcontinent. They have a grayish-brown coat, a white underbelly, and small, curved horns. Goral are herbivores and feed on a variety of vegetation.

Himalayan Black Bear: A medium-sized bear species that is found in the Himalayas. They have a black coat and a distinctive V-shaped white marking on their chest. Himalayan black bears primarily feed on vegetation, but will also eat insects, small mammals, and fish.
