Tarke Khang

Tarke Khang, commonly referred to as Glacier Dome, is a stunning mountain peak situated in Nepal. It has an impressive elevation of 7,193 meters or 23,192 feet. The geographical coordinates for this magnificent peak are 28° 36' 18" latitude and 83° 54' 58" longitude. Climbers are currently allowed to scale this mountain.

The very first successful climb to the summit of Tarke Khang took place on October 16, 1964, accomplished by Mitsuhiro Nishimura and Dorje Sherpa.

Situated within the beautiful Annapurna mountain range, Tarke Khang lies in the Gandaki Pradesh province of Nepal, spanning across the Kaski and Manang districts. The nearest source of aid along the caravan route from the basecamp is the Ghandruk police post, which is just 23.5KM away. Additionally, the closest settlement to it is Himalaya at only 5.1KM away.

Climbers should take note of the royalty fees for their adventure: Nepalese citizens are charged NRs 6000 during Spring, NRs 3000 in Autumn, and NRs 1500 in Winter/Summer. Foreign climbers are required to pay USD 500 in Spring, USD 250 in Autumn, and USD 125 in Winter/Summer.

To embark on a journey to Tarke Khang, one can drive from Kathmandu to Lumle. The caravan route follows Besisahar-Chame-Manang-Khangser-Tilicho-BC, spanning a distance of 35.5KM through Lumle. The climbing route itself measures at around 9.1KM in length, with the entire expedition estimated to take approximately 40 days to complete.
