Langtang Ri, sometimes called Tsogaka, is an impressive mountain peak within the Langtang Himal region of the Nepal Himalaya. Standing tall at 7,205 meters or 23,638 feet, its geographical coordinates are 28° 22' 56" latitude and 85° 41' 11" longitude. This peak is currently open for climbing enthusiasts.
The first team to successfully ascend Langtang Ri did so on October 10, 1981; this group consisted of Soichi Nasu, Makihiro Wakao, Noboru Yamada, and Ang Rinji Sherpa.
Situated in Nepal's Bagmati Pradesh province, Langtang Ri belongs to the Langtang mountain range and spreads across the Rasuwa district. Syaphrubesi's police post serves as an aid center along the caravan route from the basecamp, located about 39.1KM away. Meanwhile, Numthang, the closest settlement, can be found a mere 3.9KM from the mountain.
Climbers should expect varying royalty fees based on their nationality and the season: Nepalese citizens pay NRs 6000 in spring, NRs 3000 in autumn, and NRs 1500 during winter or summer seasons. Foreigners are charged USD 500 during springtime, USD 250 in autumn, and a reduced rate of USD 125 in winter or summer months.
As for traveling to Langtang Ri itself: one may drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche before finally arriving at Syaphrubesi. The caravan route spans across Syabrubeshi-Langtang-Langsisa Kharkha-BC and stretches for a total of 53KM via Dhunche. Those pursuing an expedition up the mountain will need to traverse a climbing route that measures approximately 22.2KM and plan for the entire trip to take about 35 days.
