Shivapuri Nagarjun - General Information

Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park is a protected area located in the northern part of Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. It covers an area of 159 sq km and was established in 2002 by merging two previously separate protected areas, the Shivapuri National Park and Nagarjun Forest Reserve.

The park is home to various flora and fauna, including more than 300 species of birds, several species of mammals, and a diverse range of plants and trees. The park also has several cultural and religious sites, including Buddhist monasteries and Hindu temples.

The park is easily accessible from Kathmandu and can be reached by bus or taxi. The nearest airport is Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Visitors can enter the park from several entrances, including the Budhanilkantha, Nagi Gumba, and Sundarijal entrances.

The best time to visit Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park is from September to November and from February to April when the weather is dry and cool. During this time, visitors can enjoy hiking, bird watching, and other outdoor activities. The monsoon season, which lasts from June to September, is not an ideal time to visit due to heavy rainfall and the risk of landslides.

In conclusion, Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park is a great destination for those looking for a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. It offers visitors an opportunity to experience the beauty of Nepal's natural environment while also providing a glimpse into the country's rich cultural heritage.
