Shuklaphanta National Park - Wildlife

Suklaphanta National Park is located in the far-western region of Nepal and is home to a diverse array of wildlife. Some major animals found in Suklaphanta National Park are:

Bengal tiger: A large carnivorous predator known for its striped coat and powerful build. Adult males can weigh up to 250 kg (550 lbs), while females are slightly smaller.

One-horned rhinoceros: A massive herbivore known for its thick, armor-like skin and single horn on its nose. They can weigh up to 2,300 kg (5,000 lbs).

Indian elephant: A large herbivore with a distinctive trunk used for various tasks such as eating, drinking, and communication. They can weigh up to 5,500 kg (12,000 lbs).

Swamp deer: A large herbivore also known as the barasingha. They have impressive antlers that can grow up to 1.2 meters (4 feet) long and can weigh up to 180 kg (400 lbs).

Leopard: A large carnivorous predator known for its spotted coat and agility. They can weigh up to 90 kg (200 lbs).

Wild water buffalo: A large herbivore with a thick, shaggy coat and curved horns. They can weigh up to 1,000 kg (2,200 lbs).

Hog deer: A medium-sized herbivore with short antlers and a reddish-brown coat. They can weigh up to 50 kg (110 lbs).

Spotted deer: A medium-sized herbivore with a distinctive coat featuring white spots. They can weigh up to 85 kg (190 lbs).

Smooth-coated otter: A species of otter found in the rivers and wetlands of South Asia. They have a smooth, dark brown coat and are known for their playful behavior.

Indian pangolin: A scaly anteater species that is found in South Asia. They have a tough, armored body and a long, sticky tongue that they use to catch ants and termites.

Jackal: A medium-sized carnivore known for its distinctive howl. They have a short, light brown coat and weigh up to 10 kg (22 lbs).

Fishing cat: A medium-sized wild cat that is adept at swimming and catching fish. They have webbed feet and short, stocky legs. Their distinctive appearance includes spots and stripes on their coat, and their ears have a white spot on the back.

The park covers an area of 305 square kilometers and is home to over 200 species of birds, as well as a variety of mammals. The park is primarily composed of grasslands and forests.
